Sing Hallelujah! -Part Three- Fifty Thousand Rupees

"Making melodies in my heart unto the King of Kings"
Making Melodies - Unknown Composer

So we started off the session by getting sorted into our groups on our name tag, and i ended up in group 4, with Brian and Lyn as our "facilitators"

So we brainstormed in the cafeteria for 15 minutes until we pulled together a skit based on "The Prodigal Son" and acted it out. It was based in India, where I, the father of 4 and the owner of Pokemon Corporation the family business made that announcement that i would be too old to handle the business someday and would have to divide the company equally for my 4 children. My 4th son (the lazy bum) then stands up and bangs the table, demanding the share on the spot. So I went: "Now. You want your share NOW!!? NO!! problem....lol

So i sign a mock cheque of 50,000 Rupees and hand it to him with the trademark way of exclaiming the words "Fifty Thousand Rupees!!" in the you-have-just-won-fifty-thousand-rupees-in-the-lottery kinda tone.

So he heads to the disco, where we intended to play banghra music but couldn't as we could not get our hands on any. Then my boy sees a pretty girl (Jacqueline) and goes: "Unforgettable..." before getting disrupted by one of his friends. He then took her out on a blind date singing: "Beautiful Girl" by Sean Kingston and falling asleep on her shoulder. She then loots the 50 grand and flees the scene.

Brian then comes by on a tamchiak moto and notices that he is still asleep, and decided to play a little prank and rev the engine and speed past and awaken him from his nap. His last words? "50,000 Rupee. GONE!"

And so he is insulted by his 4 brothers and returns to the office the next day to find forgiveness and i gave him a cuddle (that made the crowd go awww!!), forgave him and re-employed him.

Brian's actual idea? "Son! Where have you been!?? It's 3 in the morning!!! *sudden change of emotions* here's a bottle."

Sing Hallelujah! -Part Two- God Is Love

"Together we will love, as Jesus first loved us, and together, we will serve the Lord"
Together We Stand - SIC Youth Rally 2007 Theme Song

I woke up half dead, and then took a half past six bath before actually heading down into the bus to begin day 2.

After good but tiny breakfast, i made my way to the hall and sat with Kevin, Nigel and Chris in the front.

The first session was "God is Love". Which was basically an explanation the theme of the 2007 Youth Rally: "Love One Another As I Have Loved You".

Morning tea came after, and as usual, is was tiny and sent my appetite haywire. i could feel my stomach rumbling at random times of the day.

As the next session went by explaining more about love, and after our mediocre lunch we returned to our dorms and I took advantage and had a proper bath. The coldwater shower took ages for my body to adapt to (as you all know i cannot take cold temperatures) so i was in the middle of changing when the bus call was made and i put on a random shirt and sorts and raced down for the hike back to the hall for the session named "Puppy Love" according to our schedule, only to find out it had been replaced by Making Melodies...

Sing Hallelujah! -Part One- Bugger The Ladder

"Blaze, spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire!"
Shine Jesus Shine - Cliff Richard

It' Saturday! Yay! First day of the SIC Youth Rally 2007.

I got to the church late, and met Amanda and Jacqueline there. After a while i stumbled upon Roeshan and a couple of guys from my class, so we stuck together for a while and walked around the church . After going one full round around the church, we looked back and i went DAMN! I WALKED UNDER A LADDER!!!!! But my luck remained fair...until the bus list was up. Guess what? I was in a bus full of strangers except for Sanjeev. darn.

So the bus ride there was really quiet, except for the round of Big 2 (Chor Dai Di) i had with a few Chinese guys.

Upon getting there early, i managed to grab a good place in the registration queue........well, there was no queue, so i registered fast enough to wait for my pals to get there. Gosh i thank God i missed the queue. the pile-up after i left was craaazy!

So my bad luck struck again. I was sorted into 7M, another dorm full of strangers. Haaiixxxxx...Stupid ladder!!

Marc told us to prepare for mass after getting settled in our dorms, so a bus came and picked us up and dropped us at our apartment blocks, where i got to my room and found that i have a room with no bathroom AND a jammed fan which could NOT rotate all to myself. Swt, swt, swt. I still blame the ladder, although i had the room all to myself, and i had a window to look out of and pray. =)

When the bus came and took us back to the hall, i was wondering how to survive 4 days with no MSN, a bolster and Cuddle Therapy®...

In case you are wondering what Cuddle Therapy® is, take a look at the blog entry "Calypso Troppo" below.

Finally after dinner Mass started. I was so sesat as i haven't been for mass for more than 3 months. So i was like a blurcase muttering the words under my breath.

"Go in peace and love and serve the Lord" and so I did.

Dinner was on time, so i sat down and ate and concluded my meal with a round of Big 2 with Kevin and Chris.

After dinner, Martin Jalleh was there, and sadly, his mother passed away just 4 days ago, explaining his late arrival. So we ended the night with praise and worship.

By the time we got back to the dorm, i got changed, had a quick shower and took to the bed only to find Marc had chased Daniel out of his room and into mine. So at least now i have someone to talk to for a while before i drift off into dreamland...

Rubato Fortissimo

"I ask, cause I’m not sure: do anybody make real shit anymore?"
Stronger - Kanye West

After working out another chapter in my "Cuddle Therapy" method of curing Globophobia, i wondered what the feeling would be like to sit on a balloon. People have sat on it for MINUTES on end before it poppped, so i gave it a try.

But i was so stupid to forget that i had used the same balloon for the Cuddle Therapy. That means i've been hugging it all night and therefore weakened the rubber till it was really soft.

So you can guess what happened. I sat down on that balloon and within 3 SECONDS came the almighty BANG! 3 BLOODY SECONDS is all that i had!

2 balloons in less than a month!! God save me!! This is HELL!

After my nasty morning i took off to the bank to deposit my money, when i got half way there, I went "Shit, Where's my money!?" I had to walk all the way home just to pick up my cash.

Then i had to go get lunch and some wrapping paper for my dad, The stupid bookshop had to move across town and make me walk almost a mile to get there. I got the wrapping paper, and then i had an idea to go to the sewing shop and pick up some earring hooks.

I got there and saw the cost. Damn were they expensive! RM6 for 8 hooks!

Since today was my dad's birthday, i want to spend the whole day with him. It seems just like an ordinary day, just that i missed his last one as I was in Sarawak with the choir.

He opened his present as soon as he got it: A brand new shaving razor.

Percussion Machine

"Don't stop, get it get it?
Shut Up And Drive - Rihanna/Feel Good Inc. - Gorrilaz

This is Joel on the drums during the MM Year End Concert. Damn he made Grade 2 look so damn good!

Hearts And Guitars

"They'll torture, they'll scare you for twenty odd years. Then they expect you to pick a career."
Working Class Hero - John Lennon/Green Day/Ozzy Osbourne

Someone broke my heart shaped guitar pick...St. Pinkie's angry...

On Instrucables, they have a guide on how to make guitar picks out of old credit cards.

BANG!!** Idea!

So I woke up yesterday and pulled all of my old *pirated* Kumon Method of Learning Mandarin CDs and drew heart shapes on them, and cut them out with a scissors and filed them till the rounded parts of the heart were really rounded then i made sure that the sharp end does not scrape the guitar by filing that down too.

What I got?? 6 brand new guitar picks out of 1 and a half CDs. The good thing about heart shapes is that it has the stagger effect on one side and the strum/pluck on the other. Usually CDs make Medium Gauge picks, the cheap ones are Medium Light Gauge, the DVDs are Hard, and the DVD9s are X-Hard.

Trouble is, they're slippery. And they break easliy.

So in the afternoon i was at Atria Shopping Complex for the MightyMusic RockSchool Year-End Concert. I was going to perform "Working Class Hero", a song by John Lennon, Ozzy Osbourne and now, Green Day. I didn't expect the chair on stage to be so high, so activating the Distortion was a tough job, let the video tell the story...

"A crash of drums! A flash of light! My golden coat flew out of sight! The colours faded into darkness, I was left alone."
Any Dream Will Do - Andrew Lloyd Webber

"Gutless...."

Nat said that when she found that Edgar was using magnetic earrings. "He ain't got the guts to pierce his ears."

Truth is, we were both planning to do so during the holidays. I got impatient and chose TODAY.

Joel and his gang were heading to IOI Mall today so I tagged along. The ear piercing there was CHEAP! Only RM5 per side. I went straight ahead and did both ears on the spot.

Ok, i now am going to describe the PAIN i went through to get this done. I told the shopkeeper. "Both Ears", and straight after that she asked me to choose my free studs, and I picked the gold shiny one.

Then she pulled out the piercer. I looked like a HANDGUN, and she loaded it with the earring and needil and i heard the click sound. I was nearly trembling, she then sprayed me with some sort of cooling spray.

Most of you know that i have a problem with cold temperatures. The spray made me tremble and the shopkeeper mistakenly thought that I was scared and she went "don't worry, it's not that painful". Swt.

So she put the "handgun" on my ear, and in a natter of seconds i felt like a steel pole just shot through my ear, the pain was, well, PAINFUL!

so i asked the shopkeeper to please wait for me to relax befor driving another stud into my left ear, so i was like can i pay first, and she was like "finish first lah"

Same thing happened. lol

After getting into the car, my dad didn't notice. Until he asked "What's that on your ear?"

I went: I got them pierced!!!
He said: You got permission or not?
I said: Permission??
Dad: From mum.
I said: I told her, and she said can if the school allows.

Anyway, if Sri Nobel doesn't, what CAN they do? If they expel or suspend me, that's SERIOUSLY going to ruin the school's reputation. But hey, they can't take the hole out of my ear.

Thousands of boys my age have pierced ears, It's MY right to have one too.

SCREW the Education Ministry if they have ANYTHING negative to say.

My body, my self, MY RULES.

Any questions? My call link is just on the top of my blog.

Calypso Troppo

"Then you bang the drum and you sing this song and then that's a calypso for you!"
Calypso For You - The Young Kuala Lumpur Singers

Phew! Today has been one helluva wild day for me. What happened? Here's the 4-1-1:

My mom sceeamed at me for wearing long pants.

I woke up at 1pm thinking it was 10am.

Susanna asked me to warm up by myself.

I bought my dad his birthday present

...

...

Ok, maybe it wasn't that wild, but I learnt A LOT today. I learnt that...

There were far too many 1 cent coins made in the year 2006...maybe that's why the government wants to stop it...

Indian beer is too light for my dad.

Myanmar produces beer.

My hair is getting longer, I need more Brylcreem Reshaper Gum to cover my hair now...

My compositions are I IV V chord based...

Which is pretty boring...

But would mean I have SERIOUSLY good talent if they sound good...

And I can be considered a PRODIGY if they're addictive...

No one made made I IV V7 sound so good before...

Ok maybe some have...

We're getting off subject here!!!

I'm not the only person who needs to be pushed to work.

My school fees have not been paid.

Joel is skipping art class for a whole damn month.

For the first time in history theory class is off as no one in my class can make it.

I found out that the fear of balloons is a legitimate and valid phobia and it can be treated...

It's called globophobia, and I can cure it using "Cuddle Therapy" or "Balloon Hugging"

Both of which are undergoing testing and were made by me.

I have ligyrophobia, the fear of sudden loud noises.

there is such thing as a fear of work...

And life...

And untidyness...

And feathers...

And death...

And sound...

And sex...

And dogs...joel has that one.

Enid Blighton's brother was a musician.

C.S. Lewis hates gay people.

There are such things as chocolate flavoured condoms.

The electric guitar part for Linkin' Park's "Bleed It Out" is easier than it sounds.

After reading some blogs yesterday, I realised today that...

I STILL DON'T HAVE A GIRLFRIEND.

I made a really cute heart-shaped guitar pick last week,

AND SOMEONE BROKE IT!! =(

And last, but definitely not least, SS2 is a place where hard drinks easily available,

AND THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE BOTTLE OF PINK VODKA!!!!!!!!!

I hope I wake up sane enough for my concert tomorrow!

Enjoy The Show!

"Use your knowledge, use your trust, use your courage if you must, but you don't need a gun to change the world!"
You Don't Need A Gun To Change The World - The Kuala Lumpur Children's Choir

The Lemonade Kid, held on the 25th of November in KLPac Pentas 1 was the last large scale of the advanced level as a part of the KL Children's Choir. The worst part of that was the fact that i wasn't performing.

So i arrived in KLPac at 2PM, and Sammie's mom came and asked why i was late, and i replied with a sigh: "I'm not performinglah."

Since i had a slow morning as i was thrown out of bed a bit too early just to clean up my room, i went up slowly to the top floor, where i looked for a "job". I didn't want to be jobless because if that was the case i would be the only person who was totally not involved in the performance. So i was employed to do ticket stubbing. Yay!!

I never did it before, it was kinda embarrassing when i drop the tickets, but at least i didnt tear off the wrong side, the KLPac tickets are so confusing! If you've been there, all tickets have two detachable sides, and cases of tearing the wrong side off has happened countless times. My partner at the front of house screwed up even worse, she MISSED the perforation and TORE the ticket.

i missed Keilly's solo as i went in later just to keep an eye out for latecomers. So i went in and watched yuan Ping, Andrew and the soprano chamber choir(100% part of KLCC) which performed with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra(see entries "Do-Re-Mi-So-Fa-La-Ti-Do" and "Fifty-Fifty Symphony").

Andrew sang so well, he sounded like he was plucked straight out of Broadway and thrown into KLPac. He had a huge applause from the crowd.

The Musical "The Lemonade Kid" followed. I did not watch ANY one of the rhearsals of ths show, so everything was a surprise to me. And yup, i was surprised. Little kids as young as 7 years old singing their hearts out like a professional school choir, which is EXTREMELY good for their age and level.

So it ended late, and the lead actors all received bouquets of flowers from the audience. Firat time the choir ever received such treatment. They didn't even do that in 2006's Season Of Love: Diwali the Musical, maybe because I was the lead actor. lol

The wierd thing is actually everyone in the Advanced level received their level-up cert, but as far as i'm concerned, i'm the only person who completed all the Advanced level milestones. That means that i'm the only certified Chorister in the whole choir!

Coda al-Fine

"When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drum, there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes!"
Do You Hear The People Sing? - Alain Boubil & Claude Michel-Schoenberg

Friday the 16th of November was the last day of school for me. For the first time in my life, i'm sad and depressed on the last day of school.

I went to school with a sigh as i was going to part with some of my close friends in form 1, and some of the blokes i'm sitting with in form 3. Namely Edgar Chia, Daniel Yusof, Lemuel Khoo, Justin Chong bla bla bla the list goes on.

I spent the last few hours stoning in school, sticking the magnetic dusters on the fan, turning them on and watching the fireworks. Damn it felt nice on the last day of school.

When i got home i stoned till it was time for vocal training, then only i got up and moved.

When i got to Villa Flora, the bastard guards at the gate denied my entry as i didn't have my IC. First time this happened. I pulled out my phone, and gasp - no credit! I turned around, walked all the way to the rear of the apartment block and tried my luck there, turned out they had no passes.

What to do? well, I sat around and stoned until my mom called, demanding my location. I told her the whole damn story.

Guess what? She blamed me for spending all my credit. Hmph!

Dis-Harmony

"There's a choice we're making, we're saving our own lives. It's true we'll make a better day just you and me."
We Are The World - USA for Africa

I know that this *LATE* blog entry is named after one of the "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi" episodes, partially because i love that show, but also because i want blog titles with a musical kiss. =)

On the 15 of November, i got a chance to perform on stage for the awards day in school, twice. Not many students get the privilege to be on stage twice on awards day. I certainly had it.

So i was late in the morning as my screwed up urinary system started acting up again. I had BVD for a few years, and it so damn annoying.

i reached school at about 7:40 am, 20 minutes later than my instructions from Mr Kwan, so I proceeded straight to backstage and prepared for our Stomp! presentation.

My role was to hit the plastic garbagecan and make a "Bass drum" sound. I loved my part on stage, except for the fact that my dad focused the camera on Edwin, after my mom thought it was me. My old lady thinks i'm too fat. Mind you, it isn't funny having a mom who eats little and calls you fat.

After Stomp! concluded i changed and raced off to join the line for Miss Bee Yong's performance, We Are The World. I somehow learnt to love that song through all the rehearsal that i had with the group, and the desperate searching for the audio file online. Michael Jackson isn't so bad after all when you take the rapist in him out. =)

After concluding the performance on stage, i rang my dad up and got his camera to tape the shufflers. They asked me to do so, and i accepted the task with open hands. I really wanted to kick William's younger brother though, that little idiot kept humping my leg and kicking me while i was taping. Little kids are such headaches. How do I know,? I was one annoying bastard when I was a little kid too...

After taping the guys i showed them the video, which looked ok, and was ready for YouTube. I was certain i would make history, until i left the camcorder in class for lunch.

Eunice and her gang were partying in 3 Gold, our classroom, and i let them have a look at their video. them amateurs didn't know how to operate the handycam, and taped over 75% of the shuffling and half of their own video, another broken dream.

Good thing Soung Hui and Eunice had some video clips backed up on their cameras, i am so gonna need them......

Allegro Hard-style

"There is no other alternative."
No Alternative - DJ Merlin & C-Bass

The love for shuffling brought the SdF members in Sri Nobel together to put up a show for the year end concert, which was apparently a really good idea as almost the whole damn school screamed their lungs out when they danced.

On Wednesday (14th November 2007) evening (yes, this is another late blog entry...), i got a phone call from my mum saying that the Catholic Research Centre's office PCs started acting up, and she told me to pack my laptop and wait for her outside my house.

When we got to CRC, i realised that it was linked to Stella Maris school. I went "Damn, am I going to spend a whole night in a SCHOOL!!?"

When we unpacked and got on with the "rescue" work i eventually got bored, and after a friend taught me basic hard-style shuffling in school, i had the urge to give it a go. So i went to the toilet and put my Sony-Ericsson W900i Walkman phone on it's highest volume and played Basshunter's Dota Song as it was the only techno song on my phone, and shuffled alone, where i am not humiliated or being called a clown, trust me - clowns can't shuffle.

It was only about 20 minutes later when i realized that i was shuffling in a school at 10:30 PM on a school night, another entry in my log of wild events.

I went back to the office much later and resumed "work", it was tiring like hell. Even 2 cups of coffee and1 cup of milk tea couldn't keep my senses active. As it is, i slept at 2 am the night before.

I had to get up early tomorrow to get to school for the awards day concert. As it is, i was already wondering how to do so.

Do-Re-Mi-So-Fa-La-Ti-Do!

"Sunday morning, rain is falling."
Sunday Morning - Maroon 5

At 6:04 am i woke up to a muffled and tired sounding pop. I let go of my bolster and found a little shiny scrap of rubber there. Yup - my balloon popped =(.

i went back to sleep feeling sad and disappointed. It was the first time i ever popped a balloon in my life. To me, popping a balloon is.....sacrilege! I would never deliberately do such a thing. I take it like the destruction of something so cute, beautiful and adorable!!

My mom screamed at me to wake up in time to get to DFP, and so i woke up wondering why on earth my phone didn't roll "Teenagers" by My Chemical Romance and push me out of bed. God bless Susanna for messaging my mom to ask her if i'm going. I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom, where i eventually fell asleep for another 20 minutes before showering and changing.

I left for the oh so familiar Taman Bahagia RapidKL LRT Station where my 40-minute journey began towards KLCC station, where i would relive the days i rehearsed with Kevin Field and did a duet with Chan Chan with orchestra accompaniment. That was so cool.

That day our conductor was Carl Davis. Yes i've worked with 2 of MPO's wonderful conductors.

Mary Carewe was the soloist for our little performance, and she was a powerful singer with a tendancy to get nervous. Poor thing, i pity those with stagefright.

The love for the stage drives us performers to seek fame and publicity, and i am one person who is not stage shy, i love myself for that =).

So that morning during the rehearsal for "Do-Re-Mi", Mary was looking pretty nervous, and so she sang her upwards scale with "do, re, me, so, fa, la, ti, do" instead of "do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do". It left all of us laughing, including her.

Working backstage in DFP is a once in a lifetime experience, not everyone gets to do it. The backstage in DFP was no stranger to me. I've been there before and had many bitter and sweet experiences there. I love that place and i'm really gonna miss it.

The concerts ended late that day, and while working backstage i managed to get Carl Davis' and Mary Carewe's autograph! I even got a picture with them. But sadly due to photography law, i cannot post them here.

I'm not being lazy, I respect the law!

Fifty-Fifty Symphony

"I can catch the moon in my hand, don't you know who I am?"
Remember My Name! - Irene Cara

Last night, I smsed a few peeps from my choir asking about what time today's rehearsal at MPO was at, and only Sheril replied. God bless her.

So this morning, i went with my mom to Low Yat Plaza to get our cracked up Level One 802.11b Wireless Router exchanged for a Linksys 802.11g Wireless Router, which is not as headache inducing as the old one lol.

After that we went off to KLCC to DFP for practice, actually the choir practiced, i just sat and watched. I was supposed to help out, but there was nothing there for me to do, but to enjoy a free concert.

I missed the Dewan Philharmonik very nuch, so i enjoyed my "stay" there, and I listened to the acoustics work so beautifully. It felt just like 2 years ago, when Darrel and i did a duet of "Walking In The Air" by Howard Blake with the orchestra.

There is this famous song from the opera "Carmen" that has a part which features a prelude that sounds familiar, and the choir was singing after the prelude. So the orchestra wanted to run thru the prelude quickly before letting the choir sing. When the conductor (Marc Rochester) raised his stick and the song began, half of the orchestra was looking at the wrong score, voila! DJ mixing, orchestra style. Haha!!

Six Strings

"He came through the door with a knife in his hand, I turn around, scream and shout to say that we were just friends."
I Fell In Love With The DJ - Che'Nelle

Yep, you've guessed it - yesterday sucked.

How'd i know? Easy - I don't blog on the average-day adventure.

I woke up at 12pm, and to my amazement my balloon still was ok, even after a night of my cuddling. My dad told me to take a bath quickly as the cleaning maid was here, and so i...went back to sleep =). less than 10 minutes later i got another wake up call, so i went to the bathroom and slept there for a while before seriously taking a nice long shower, enjoying the minty sensation of my Clear Men's Antidandruff Shampoo with Menthol cooling my entire body as i wash it off my hair.

I felt a pretty stringy sore throat that day, so i cut school. BAD CHOICE.

Due to an agreement with a friend, I can't tell you why that was a bad choice.

So later, my dad came up and to my surprise, he repaired my guitar! It looked beautiul, and it was so nice and easy to tune, except for the D-string (which was stuck). it felt so great to play it, until Joel entered my room and dislodged it from it's "stand", which was my table, and sent the newly repaired Yamaha 6-string Standard Full-Size Classical Guitar crashing onto the floor. Obviously this is not the first time this had happened, but this time, i went "damn!" - the metal D-string tuning peg BROKE off.

I screamed my head off at Joel, until he left my room. I thank God that the peg of the only brass string (the type of string which could hold it's pitch without re-tuning for the longest time) among 5 other nylon (3 standard + 2 Cecilia Toray SE Nylon) strings, so it wasn't so bad. =)

I wanted to finish this and post this yesterday, but the stupid wireless in my house kept turining itself on and off until i was sick and tired i just waited.....till now, anyway, most of my blog entries are 24 hours late.

Live Out Your Dreams! -Part Two- Just Adorable!!

"This is what dreams are made of."
What Dreams Are Made Of - Hilary Duff

The night ended late after the Finale (My Redeemer Lives), so I waited outside with my phone in one hand (because of all the missed calls) and my lil’ balloon in the other. I ran through the rain to get to mom’s Honda, and we drove home talking about why the Catholic church doesn’t do these kind of things, and why the Protestants do so. When I got home, dad was still on the com. So after I did the laundry I ran up to my bed and turned on my mom’s IBM X41 laptop and connected to the wireless. I wasted some time online, then my dad turned off the wireless (now you know why I cut off without warning in the middle of the night!)

After I got cut off, I saw my balloon bouncing up and down in the wind of my room fan, so to try to relax, I switched on the aircond and looked at it again. All of a sudden I had this rush of cuteness through my body. I hugged the balloon and went to bed with it by my side. I tugged on the string every now and then just to tingle my cute feeling. I have to say it. Helium balloons are sooo adorable!!

I woke up and found my lil’ balloon had lost it’s ability to float and it just lay there, motionless, but still as cute as ever. I couldn't believe that i went to bed with a balloon and didn't pop it! I gave it another hug, took a bath, and laft for school, at 12pm. lol

Live Out Your Dreams! -Part One- Follow Your Destiny!

"They're gonna clean up your looks, with all the lies in the books to make a citizen out of you, because they sleep with a gun and keep an eye on your son, so they can watch all the things that you do."
Teenagers - My Chemical Romance

Just yesterday night, I found out I had a really huge weak spot for helium balloons. Why?? I’ll tell you later.

Isabel “IzzyLamKins” Lam sent me the invitation to some event called the LOUD Concert some time ago. I accepted and she kept pestering me for my response. I literally thank god for saying yes.

Less than 24 hours after SIC Sunday School Form 3 Class Party came the L.O.U.D. concert by DUMC. Izzy sent me the invite, so accepted and went. When I got there, first thing kena hentam by the guys. They somehow had an urge for gay violence. Obviously they forgot that they were in a CHURCH…

I was waiting for my partner – Darren – to go in for the games before the concert. He didn’t turn up in the end. I’m going to strangle him tomorrow.

The queue to enter built up and reached it’s peak around 7:15, and to avoid the pushing and shoving Alvin and I loitered about the carpark eating, chit-chatting and picking up a balloon or two. By the time they closed the fair we went in and joined the end of the at least 50-metre long queue.

By the time we settled down in the auditorium the concert began. The first few dances that kicked it off were beautiful, but well, dancing was never my thing, so yeah =).

I feel a bit lazy to write about the music, so I’ll skip to the pastor’s speech ok?

The Pastor came up to the podium and began to explain that LOUD was actually an acronym for “Live Out Your Dreams”. And that Jesus has a plan for your life. Your task is to live it up and carry it out.

There was a story he told us that almost made me cry. It was about friendship and how God’s plan for your life may seem like a torture script. In the end everything turns out right, no matter how screwed up life is.

Ice Cream Soda, Balloon-phobia and La Bamba!!

"People killing people dying, children hurt can hear them crying. Why don't you practice what you preach, don't you turn the other cheek? Father, Father, Father! Help us! Send some guidance from above! Cause' people here have got me questioning - Where is the love?"
Where Is The Love - Black Eyed Peas

Yes it's true - I, a balloon lover have balloon-phobia!

It was about 4:45 PM on the 3rd of November. I opened my wardrobe and took out the colour that outshined the rest - pink. I put up a lot of self control to save that shirt for our Sunday School Class Party that night. So i put on the shirt and a pair of three-quarter and head off to music theory class where I learnt about silly ways of chance-composing, example: people draw the 5-line staff with 4 ledger lines added both above and below on their aquarium and drop a goldfish inside. Wherever the fish swims, that is the next note of the piece of music......ok we're getting off topic here.

After class i moved my brother's Pearl Export EXR Series Cymbals (Crashride, Crash and HiHat) into my mom's Honda and off to church i went. When i finally got to church, mass was still going on. So with nothing better to do i decided to give the drumset a test. I ended up getting scolded, lol. The party started later than usual, with a tiny crowd in the cafeteria lined with cloth, spangles and balloons. Yes, balloons. Another night having to face my fear. I set up the laptop and copied the songs from Aaron's thumbdrive and Kathleen's Sushi-shaped thumb drive. Damn that looked good. It was not tuntil the sound system (which SUCKED) was moved in when they didn't have MiniJack inputs for the laptop. The DJ just lost his job =(. Anyway, Marcia and some of them didn't like my scratching, so there. Dinner was nearly silent.

So Nick and Kelvin wanted to break the silence of boredom and jam out a song, impromptu. They pretty much screwed up a bit. Before i could finish eating my dinner i was prompted to play for praise and worship, and gasp! No piano amplifier!!

Nick kicked it off with his fave song, La Bamba and they made me play it out on the keyboard. I never knew how to play La Bamba, so i pretended to play, only Jac realised that the keyboard was off. =P.

Only after clowning around we finally started praise and worsip. There i was banging nonsense out on the keyboard without a score. Even if I brought my score, the keyboard had no music stand. For our Finale (Church on Fire + Victory Chant) I swapped instruments with Nick. He took the keyboard; i took the electric guitar. Man, was praise and worship fun, until i realised Kathleen played a little too hard and broke my brand new Select Oak A7 PowerSticks on the drums, that's the second pair she broke in 2 days! Chill lah sis!! I really give up on these Malaysian crap drumsticks!!

And then the games started...Kelvin organized "Pisang Goreng" - a Malay game which involves fast thinking. He must have forgot that we were in a CHURCH, and that there were NO MALAYS there.

Then the "dancefloor" was open to everyone, and i had to sit back and relax and operate the turntable set and mix up songs for the gang. Some of the people there were whacking each other with balloons, tingling my nerves, until some itchy-fingered bloke popped one. He had to pop the pink balloon. I really wanted to take home that one! It was sooo cute!! =(

What really touched me that night was when Kathleen actually took a picture with me. No one besides Sheril and Keilly ever wanted to take a picture with me before. It made me so happy i almost cried. God Bless you Kathleen!

Party ended late, so my mom came and helped to put away the laptop.

Next time, i bring EVERYTHING. Adapter, cassette player and more music!!!

Practice!? What practice!?!?

"There's a light that shines to make the dark disappear, a power at work and there's nothing to fear."
Church On Fire - HillSong

My 017 phone started blaring "Everybody Dance Now" by C&C at about 2.50pm. Nick told me to come for practice now. I told him that I wanted to go for all souls d...and he inteupted me saying "come after mass lah!" It took me a while to tell him that I'm not going to church, but to the crematorium for the all souls day service. He told me that they'll be there till six, so I said I'll come after prayers. I then left for the crematorium, and put a flower on my grandma's slot and said a short prayer, then head off to Nick's place. He greeted me and told me to go upstairs as they were taking a break. Kath seemed really happy to see me. She just got a new laptop this morning with Windows Vista Office Professional - my turn to be jealous...=P. So we watch both of nick's brothers playing football and whacking each other up in WWE. So I asked kath how was the first half of practice. She replied "Practice!? We've been stoning up here since we came!" It was at that moment that I regret asking my dad to drive me there. We continued stoning for the next half hour, when we finally went down to get some serious practice done. We only did two songs, then Jac left. Aaron asked me for a lift back, and so I agreed and he and Nick continued camwhoring with an iBook webcam. Swt. After sending Aaron back, here I am walking around Giant Kelana Jaya shopping for groceries. I called KK, but she didn't pick up. God do I hope that tomorrow will just turn out right!!

God bless Teacher Sarah Yan!

"My mother says to get a job, cause' she don't like the one she's got"
Longview - Green Day

This post was almost going to be called "Stupid Sore Throat" until I went for piano class yesterday. Teacher Sarah really worked some magic with my sore throat...it's only a day away from our sunday school party, and the "sore" in "sore throat" is gone, but the tonsils still remain...damn. The recipe for the cure is: just add two bulbs of garlic, peeled but not chopped, into 1kg of honey. Let it steep for 2 hours and take one tablespoon 3 times a day. If you wanna cut school with a valid excuse then drink the whole thing in one go - instant diahorrea!

Happy Birthday Esther and Sarah Tan

"I had a dream that no one dared to dream, a dream that changed my life forever."
Broken Dreams - Daniel Anthony

Being a songwriter, getting a dedication across can be hard and can be easy. Worse, i had a dedication to write, and PMR was just round the bend, i held the song in my head, and i turned my exam roughwritng paper into manuscript pages, scribbling out notation on any unused piece of paper i could get my hands on. After PMR i finally got my hands on Finale and penned out the niggling stuff onto my computer and get cracking on the dedications.

Among the two songs (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Broken Dreams), Broken Dreams was a birthday present for Esther Tan. Only after penning the whole song down i realized she and her sister share the same birthday. So i dedicated it to both of them, hoping it would make a good birthday present.

October went by in a flash. The first week dragged because of PMR, but the rest of the month went by just too fast. Today came without me realising it.

I saw Esther online and i told myself it was now or never, and i presented Broken Dreams to her like all my othere songs that i've wrote and asked her to hear, and told her happy birthday. and as I prayed for the best, the est happened - she liked it, and so did Sarah.

Terrorist Plot

"And you see this bandanna hanging? That means I'm like a bandit."
Kiss Kiss - Chris Brown feat. T-Pain

The real laziness of mine kicked in when i finished awards day auditions for one of the performances, so i had the urge to play speed while watching the form twos play. At least Siew Li lent me her cards so i had a game with Jian Soon which proved to be quite a challenge as i was rusty at speed. Time passed much faster that wasy, soon i had to go and play for the music club audition. I left 2 Gold to get into 3 Gold, where i dumped my stuff when i arrived at 11 AM. Turned out that Edgar and Lennon were scribbling stuff out on the table. Edgar asked me if i had seen his vest, i said no, then proceeded to the wire sculpture on the table. Some idiot had slapped more plaster on it and cut up some parts. Someone was here, i reckon he/she came during lunch and hijacked the classroom, taking Edgar's vest. So i thought i better check my bag to see if the CD Courier was there. It was. I breathed a sigh of relief, but as soon as i pulled it out of my bag, i saw that it was covered in plaster - the same type as the art project plaster. God i tell you if i find the maniac who did this Edgar and I are going to trash him...

Up In Smoke

"Through the fire and the flames we carry on!"
Through The Fire And Flames - DragonForce

When any big exam is over, there are a million thoughts that run through a student's head. Of all the activities that flash about, there is one that is uniform in all students - rich and poor, strong and weak, old and young - book burning.

Many plan it out, think about it, but most of the time, it never happens. I, for one, made sure it did.

So it was my brother, Joel's birthday on October 29th. My family decided to celebrate it one day earlier on the 28th - a lovely Sunday evening.

After ordering the cake and buying last minute barbecue stuff, i returned home to enjoy some freshly barbecued dinner. Halfway through it i decided to go to my room, grab the pile of worksheets and books and chuck them into the fire, but my dad told me to wait till the food was cooked, so i reluctantly tamed myself till food was cooked, and fished out my moral excercise book to start the ceremony.

Since it was Joel's birthday, i let him start the fire. He took the green-and-black excercise book and placed it on the embers of hot coal and watch smoke spur from it before it literally burst into flames. It was a beautiful sight, and i got it all on tape. And when i say tape, i mean tape.

The next victim was my B.M. Komsas (Literature) book, which has far too many incomplete notes and excercises interrupted by falling asleep in class. I never like B.M. anyway!! So it was added to the leaping flames.

The main course of the night was a PMR Bahasa Melayu Past Year exam papers collection book, which i loathed. It had "MALAS" (meaning lazy) written on every other page (I couldn't be bothered with all that), and i always wanted to do something like this to a book, so it was added to the pile, and the pages were turning because of the heat. Every section of the PMR B.M. paper was slowly reducing itself to ashes, and the flame was so intense that it even unfocused my dad's handycam (with an idiot like me operating it, the video looked crappy).

And my brother, who is also a bit of an idiot, put in a ramdom excercise book WITH the plastic cover. The whole thing melted to reveal a maths book (Sorry Mr. Chong!!). It slowly brought the fire to an end and left half the B.M. book unburnt.

So i grabbed a science worksheet, and rekindled the fire, swallowing up my b.M. and Maths excercise books. I then took a hard stare at the pile of worksheets ready to be destroyed, but my overreactive mom didn't want a polluted environment, thus ending the ceremony there.

But heck it was fun. Watch out for the video on my Friendster!

Graduation Day

"Days may be cloudy or sunny, we're in or we're out of the money, but I'm with you always, I'm with you rain or shine!"
Come Rain or Come Shine! - St. Louis Woman

Yesterday night was too cranked up with so many things that i didn't have the time to blog about this, so i pushed this entry 24 hours later. lol

As usual, i was late. I got to YCA wondering where everyone was. So i asked Chan Chan where everyone was...apparently they chose the kitchen as their dressing room. So i got there and wasted some of the Brylcreem ReshaperGum i had not touched for months on my hair just to look pretty.

And so we started finally, with a hall which was not as crowded as we expected it to be and we sat down on the carpet and watched as Kathleen took on her first song...God was she nervous. It was like a chain reaction - the current performer would make the next one nervous as he/she sets the standard for the next performer. After how Keilly sang, she set a heck of a standard for me.

As I went up, i felt slightly nervous, and held the last note of my first song a little too long. I also came in a little to early for my second song, thus screwing up the piano part for a while (sorry Mama San!!!)

And so our recital came to an end there. Phew! Blogging is tough work!

At least this functions as a journal entry. There! Two birds killed with one stone!

"It's so much that we share, that it's time we're aware it's a small world after all!"
It's A Small World - Walt Disney

More than 10 blogs of mine have been opened, closed or abandoned...sad eh?

Finally, after some faithful inspiration by KK, I felt it was time to start and get serious about blogging, cos when I write my feelings out, it helps me calm down and forgive those I have offended, and those I am yet to offend.

If you come back one day, and find this blog closed, please understand that I have probably written too many offensive things that u may not wanna read.

So hi again, welcome to my world.
